we applied ap in octoer and we got receipt on oct 24th but we found a typo error on my daughters receipt instead of 'ekthasruthi sakala' it was ektha sakala' will it be a problem at the port of entry . please suggest me.
The name on the AP should match with passport. Make sure your 131 form has a correct name, if yes then you can reapply for a AP without a filing fee otherwise you have to pay. BTW, check all your receipts whether it has a correct name

There will be cases where simply placing your code below initializecomponent doesn't work as expected because your application hasn't fully loaded. I have just gone thru March recording of IV lawyer call and the below caught my attention. Ms Susan mentioned that any company name change after I140 approval has to refile I 140. I am utterly confused as that particular scenario affect me and i would like to know what best course of action i can take at this point.
I filed LC and I 140 with company A
My I 140 got approved
Before i filed my I 485 my company changed its name
I asked my attorney at that time if we need to take any special action
Attorney said they can just add an amendment while applying for I 485 about name change and apply with approved I 140, which is with old company name.
I and my wife work on EAD for past 3 years and i am still employed with same company. I wonder which one of above attorney is correct and what i should do.
Does the fact that my I485 is pending for more than 180 days after approval of my I 140 will come to rescue in case of question about company name change (AC21)

I am currently in H1-B. My GC (EB2) is in progress sponsored by my company.
The I-40 is approved but me and my wife�s I-485 is still pending.
We both got our EADs, but we have never-ever used it. We just applied for it and kept the card.
My wife was also on H1-B through her own employment. She got laid off so she is losing her H1-B. Now I want to apply for her H4 as my dependant. Since she already has an EAD, will applying for H4 nullify the EAD? As I said earlier that she has never used her EAD however she plans to use it when she gets a new job.
Anybody in similar situation? Any remarks or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I have a question on the receipt number. If we get the receipt number, does it mean "The application is accepted" (All the supporting documentation and fee are coorect)?

I have filed 485 for all my family members and received the EAD and AP(s). FP is not done yet. My daughter is in 1st year undergrad. Is there a way my daughter's 485 status can be maintained, if I join my daughter for MBBS study in India? If yes, what would be the option. Apreciate the suggestion

They have covered their bases by putting "May" in the headline. "May" increase visas.
There is already a discussion that happened about this on another thread. Please search the forums for the article before starting a new thread.
And for heaven's sake, please dont look for immigration related news in Indian Newspapers. They dont know that congress has two chambers : House and Senate. And they dont know the common basics of legislative process in USA.

USCIS site has been having some trouble for the past couple of months. The reciept numbers are all valid but are not displaying any status in the system. I had the same challenge with one of my applications. So when I called the rep could also not find the status online, but then they connected me to another rep who could check all my status and confirmed that the application was in the system and even notified me of the status.
Since only the petionter can make an inquiry in the status of an H1-B application, pls work with your HR to call the USCIS and get the information. You will be fine , don't worry.

USCIS is all about balancing work...they are being forced to accept butt-load of AOS application, and they shift the balance this way....
Also they will take months or even years to send back receipts EADs etc...wait n watch....we made them swallow the tought pill, and they will make the same pill stuck in our throat for eternity now.....

My I140 got denied early this year and the appeal is pending. Processing times for the appeal is 22 months. My priority date will be current next month. Because of that i am considering to refile my I140 and 485 again and withdraw the appeal.
1) Can we refile I140 with the same category (EB2)
2) Can USCIS just deny the new I140 because of the earrlier denial
3) Is there any one who tried this. What is the outcome of the new I140 application.
Please share your experience and also please advice

My wife's company has filed for her H1B and she has been given the receipt number from her HR dept, but we are unable to check the case status online. whenver wetry to check the status of her case online it says
"Your case can not be found at this time in Case Status Online. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283"
i called up USCIS and they tell me that there is a technical problem and not all case status can be checked online ,they cannot give me any information on the status of the case and the rep said they can convey any info only to the HR dept of her company
However the rep confirmed that the receipt number is valid,
Has anyone had a similar issue? Not sure how i can go about this,
when my wife contacted her company's HR department says that they will keep her posted on any developments in her case
