Dang, Federighi has large shoes to fill. His Lion demo was so-so. Serlet has been on the Mac OS X team since day one if I remember right, and has always seemed to understand where it needed to go next.
I wonder if the departure has anything to do with Mac OS X transitioning away from a traditional desktop OS towards a more touch-centric, "no-fuss" one. Would be interested in Serlet's opinion on this.

You know, leekohler, I'd find this crusade you have to get respect for gay rights a lot more persuasive if you didn't make snide and deriding comments about republicans and Christians on a regular basis.
Seeing someone so passionate about respect yet so blatantly not exhibiting it himself towards other groups undermines this position so badly I am actually going to ask you to stop one of the two. Please stop either

I've installed OpenOffice.org for OS X, and when I save files in MS-office formats (.xls, .doc, etc) they do not have any icon assigned to them. If I save in the native open-doc format, the icons appear. When I double-click the .xls files, they will open automatically with OpenOffice, but the icons are still blank.
How can I get these icons to be correct?

Does anybody know of any FREE software which i can record my podcast's. I currently use Audacity but im not getting on with it. Im after one where i can line up the songs ready so i click button and it plays click another and records from mic.

The why not is not the point. Its the fact that parents don't lose control the very second they're 18.
thats not the issue i'm contesting, what i'm saying is why do most american parents take issue at their kids having sex, it makes no sense unless your kid is stupid and has random unsafe sex.

Lotus Notes is such a horrible product for an email client. Notes existed long before they added email capabilities, and then they retrofitted email into the product.
I like to use an email product where I can get access to all my email accounts (both personal and work related). Luckily in Notes you can have it forward your email to another email client. So I read my Notes mail in Apple's Mail client.
I'm not bitter :)

I'm not a one-dimensional eco-freak, but I would like to see more economical cars on the road. ............................
Neither am I. It's just that so many models don't come to the US market although they are innovative and successful in Europe. Mostly hatchbacks, wagons and modern crossovers (e.g. Ford Kuga) are missing. Even premium cars from Mercedes or BMW often come only in quite unattractive versions.
And the engine choices suck because there are so many stupid people here who believe only a V6 or a V8 is a good engine while a TDI or a turbocharged 4 cylinder can have the same or better performance. Especially since you can't drive fast here anyway.

I don't see why not. They're practically the same except for the obvious differences like the AGP slot, etc. Hmmm, I'm not sure if that agp slot will give you troubles. I'd say go ahead and try it.

Well this certainly beats that ipod integration nonsense. MP3 player phones are a dime a dozen, I'd rather see great communication device that take how the user communicates to the next level, not just stuff a music player in it.
